Tools you’ll need

  • Drill
  • 9 mm and 10 mm drill bits
  • Drill / driver
  • Spanner or socket set

Step 1 – Fit the headboard brackets

  1. Mark 4 holes near the top corners of the headboard – 2 each side.
  2. Drill each hole with a 10 mm drill bit.
  3. Fix the L mounting brackets and support brackets to the top of the headboard using 4 × M10 × 25 mm bolts, M10 washers and 10 mm nyloc nuts.
Step 1: drill four 10 mm holes near the top corners of the dump truck headboard and bolt on the L mounting brackets and support brackets

Step 2 – Fit the pull tarp system

  1. Place the pull tarp system on top of the L brackets, centred across the headboard.
  2. Fit an M10 × 25 mm bolt and M10 washer through each bracket hole – 2 per bracket.
  3. Fit an M10 washer and 10 mm nyloc nut to each bolt underneath and tighten.
Step 2: sit the pull tarp system on the L brackets and bolt it down with M10 bolts, washers and nyloc nuts

Step 3 – Fit the shark fins and tie-off rods

  1. Fit a shark fin bracket to the outside of each rear corner, at the top of the body.
  2. Drill 9 mm pilot holes, then fix each shark fin with 2 × 10 mm tap screws. The 9 mm holes let the tap screws cut a thread into the steel body for a secure fit.
  3. Fit the tie-off rods with 40 mm brass screws – 2 on the tailgate, and 2 on the end of the headboard beside the cab, one above the other.

The tie-off rods can go wherever suits your truck and load – the positions shown are a guide.

Step 3: fit a shark fin bracket to the outside of each rear corner and fit the plastic tie-off rods on the tailgate and headboard

Step 4 – Fit the plastic end caps

  1. Push a round plastic end cap into the end of the steel pole on the tarp.
  2. Drill 2 × 22 mm screws through the end cap into the steel pole.
  3. Repeat on the other end – 2 end caps, 4 screws in total.
Step 4: push a round plastic end cap into each end of the tarp pole and fix with two 22 mm screws
