To order a Fragar pull tarp kit online you need one key measurement: the inside width of your dump truck body. It takes about two minutes with a tape measure. We cut the housing, roller tube and tarp to fit, and ship the kit to your door in the USA.

What you need

  • A tape measure (inches)
  • Someone to hold the other end if the body is wide
  • Your phone, to photograph the front and back of the body in case we need to check the fit

Step 1: Measure the inside width at the front

Measure across the top of the body at the front, where the tarp housing will sit, from the inside face of one side wall to the inside face of the other. Write it down in inches, to the nearest quarter inch. This is the number you enter as your truck body width when you order.

Kits fit bodies from 59¼ to 106¼ inches wide inside.

Step 2: Check the width at the back

Measure the inside width across the top at the tailgate end too. If the front and back numbers are different, or the top of the body has ribs or bulges, send us your truck details before you order and we’ll confirm the fit.

Step 3: Measure the length to choose your tarp

Measure the inside length of the body from the headboard to the tailgate. The tarp comes in two lengths: 16 ft 5 in (5 m) and 23 ft (7 m). Pick the length that reaches from the housing at the front, over the whole load, to the rear with enough left to tie it off. If you’re not sure which suits your truck, send us the measurement and we’ll tell you.

Step 4: Decide on eyelets (optional)

Eyelets are metal rings set into the reinforced edge of the tarp so you can tie it down. If you want them, check the Eyelets box when you order and enter the spacing in inches (4 to 118 in). A good way to get the spacing is to measure the gap between the rope hooks or tie-down points on your body, so the eyelets line up with them.

Common measuring mistakes

  • Measuring the outside of the body. We need the inside width, wall to wall.
  • Measuring at the floor. Some bodies are narrower at the bottom. Measure across the top, where the tarp sits.
  • Using feet and inches. Enter the width in inches only, for example 90, not 7 ft 6 in.
  • Going off the spec sheet. If the body has been modified or repaired, the paperwork may not match. A tape measure is always right.
