How it works
The tarp sits on a spring-loaded roller inside an aluminium housing at the front of the body. Pull it back over the load and tie it off at the rear. Let it go and the spring winds it back into the housing, out of the weather. No motor, no wiring, no batteries.

How a pull-out truck tarp works
The tarp sits on a spring-loaded roller inside an aluminium housing at the front of your body. Pull the tarp back over the load and tie it off at the rear. When you are ready to tip, untie it and let it go: the spring winds it back into the housing. There is no motor, no wiring and no batteries, so there is very little to go wrong.

Pull-out tarps: common questions
Will it fit my truck?
Pull-out kits suit bodies from 1500 to 2400 mm wide inside. Measure across the top at the front, inside wall to inside wall, and enter that as your box width when you order. Our 2-minute measuring guide shows you where to measure.
Should I choose a 5 m or 7 m tarp?
Measure the inside length of your body from the headboard to the tailgate. Pick the length that reaches from the housing at the front, over the whole load, to the rear with enough left to tie it off. If you are not sure, send us the measurement and we will tell you.
Is a pull-out tarp the same as a wind-out tarp?
Not quite. A wind-out tarp is wound across the load with a handle. A pull-out tarp is pulled out by hand, and a spring winds it back in, so there is no handle to crank and no motor. If you would rather wind or go electric, see our retractable truck tarps, available in hand wind or 12 V/24 V electric.
Does it suit trailers and hook bins?
Yes. Pull-out kits suit tipper trucks, trailers and hook bins, as long as the box is 1500 to 2400 mm wide inside. For bins, also see our skip bin and hook lift bin tarps, and for trailers and ute trays see trailer tarps.
Can I fit it myself?
Everything comes in one box, including the brackets and fasteners, with a step-by-step installation guide you can also download as a PDF. You will need a drill with 9 mm and 10 mm bits, and a spanner or socket set. Most people have it fitted in about 2–3 hours.
Do you deliver to my area?
Yes. We deliver Australia-wide, from Sydney and Brisbane to Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Hobart and Darwin. Freight for a kit is a flat $77 inc GST, added at checkout. See delivery.
Can I buy spare parts?
Yes. The common pull-out tarp parts, like the spring assembly, are sold separately on our spare parts page, and we make replacement tarps.
What if I need PVC, a wider body or electric operation?
Pull-out kits come with a heavy-duty mesh tarp. For PVC, bodies outside the 1500 to 2400 mm range, or push-button operation, a made-to-measure retractable tarp is the better fit. Compare them in tipper tarps.
